June 9, 2025 — Cristiano Ronaldo has officially ended speculation about his future by confirming that he will remain with Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr for the upcoming season. This announcement quashes rumors linking him to various clubs, including Premier League teams, Inter Miami, and Brazilian side Fluminense.
The 40-year-old forward had been the subject of intense transfer speculation, with discussions about a potential short-term move to participate in the newly formatted FIFA Club World Cup. FIFA President Gianni Infantino had even suggested the idea of Ronaldo joining the tournament to enhance its star appeal. However, Ronaldo emphasized that while there were talks and offers, he prioritized long-term planning and decided against joining the World Cup event this summer.
His confirmation came during an interview before Portugal’s Nations League final against Spain, where he contributed a key equalizer in Portugal’s eventual win. Although there was confusion over a recent social media post hinting at a possible departure, Al Nassr had been negotiating to extend his €200 million-a-year contract, set to expire at the end of June. The club, along with sporting director Fernando Hierro, expressed optimism about retaining Ronaldo, and it now appears the contract extension has been secured.
Ronaldo’s decision to stay with Al Nassr ensures that he will continue to play a pivotal role in the club’s ambitions for the upcoming season, both domestically and in international competitions.
